Imprint
Imprint is a 7x11 foot installation of encaustic tiles inspired by the public collaborative HIVE . It was created for the exhibition Re:Constructed at Regis College in 2012 and has travelled to Fruitlands Museum among others.
Beeswax is an organic medium with many compelling qualities. I use it to create patterns and reliefs. By submerging objects into the heated liquid wax, then cooling to solidify before carefully lifting it out at just the right moment, you can create a very sculptural surface which can then be manipulated with paint and scraping. I am offering this work in smaller combinations of assembled tiles. Each arrangement is reinforced with multiple brackets and can be hung in more than one orientation.
Encaustic medium is stable in a temperature range of approximately 40-100°F which means that we cannot ship – the purchase of these pieces will require picking up. Delivery can be arranged within 30 miles of Somerville for 25.00.View of bracket assembly on the back here.
